Nova Circini 1995 (BY Cir)

Nova Cir 1995 was discovered by W. Liller (Chile) on January 27-28 1995 at approximately visual magnitude 7.2. The Nova was designated BY Cir.  Nova Cir 1995 was a slow nova of type NB taking 157 days to fall 3 magnitudes. The fading slowed and it took another 836 days to fall over 4 magnitudes to 15.0 after which it was invisible and fainter than 15.2.

My visual observations of BY Cir commenced on January 28 at a visual magnitude of 7.4. The light curve is detailed below.
